Michael Sauer Christensen is a very experienced Danish Director of Photography based in Copenhagen. He has worked all over the world shooting music videos, documentaries, TV commercials and feature films. Through his 15 years of experience and intimate understanding of the art of lighting, he brings together the highly technical aspects of production with the creative sensibilities of powerful storytelling. Michael both works as a DOP on commercials and films, and direct music videos. This gives him diversity which is very helpful for many directors on commercials, music videos and features. Furthermore, he owns Gaucho Film.

With more than 200 music videos, as photographer and director, Michael is one of the most successful music video directors / DP’s in Denmark. He has created sleek cinematic videos for some of the biggest artists in Scandinavia and Europe. His great love for pictures combined with his strong sense of fashion and passion for music, has made him the preferred choice for many artists. Michael has shot videos all over the world and has been nominated for Danish Music Awards, Gaffa and Zulu Awards.

Delivering a keen artistic eye and strong understanding of story to his shooting techniques, he also brings considerable experience in operating RED 4K, Epic, Arri Alexa, Phantom and other digital systems – making him a very experienced DOP with digital cinematic formats. Lately Michael’s work has expanded to include feature films. Working at Drama Deluxe as DOP, Michael has worked with Director Adam Neutzsky-Wulff on the The Stranger Inside starring William Baldwin and Estella Warren.
He has also won several awards – including Zulu Awards for best comedy show (“Tak For I Aften 2″/2009) and the Danish Television Festival for best cinematography (“Tak For I Aften 2″/2009)

Michael is a member of the Danish Association of Cinematographers (DFF).
